After spending time in Germany, his work became bolder and more colourful, inspired by the work of the "Neue Wilden" movement. Subjects often include places (and people) he visits in pursuit of introspection, solitude & tranquility. After an excursion to East Africa, a change of direction, explored the landscape and light (e.g. Shade of Stone Town in Zanzibar). After an excursion to Italy. Venice and Tuscany became favourite subjects. More recent visits to Kosi Bay resulted in interpretation of the environment in unique expressive way.

He now lives and works in Riebeek Kasteel, South Africa, where the Swartland region and surrounds inspired a series of landscapes and portraits that reflects a new creative direction and exciting techniques in printmaking, painting & drawing.

Currently works can be viewed @ "The Gallery"- Riebeek Kasteel, Lovell Gallery, Woodstock, and available from Carmel Art, Cape Town and Graham's Fine Art Gallery  For a private viewing at the artist's studio contact: andrevanvuuren@telkomsa.net
